ASSIGNMENT 4 - THE ART OF SEEING
The purpose of this assignment was to find an interesting location or "studio" and take 10 different photos without moving our feet.

Relection
I found this assignment particularly challenging, especially finding a "studio" that I thought would lead to interesting photos. I walked around for a while in my neighborhood looking for a good spot where I could get a wide range of different shots with lively action and beautiful scenes but I wasn't finding anything. As I walked through my local park I stopped at these stairs and just decided to try it there. I liked the idea of picking something relatively mundane and plain, and seeing what interesting details I could find and bring out of it. Admittedly, a lot of these I don't like and would have much rather deleted or edited (like the one with the caution sign in the foreground and the one of the trees/lamppost - exposure is AWFUL on that one).
My favorite is probably the yellow chain close up as I love how the color and shapes pop out from the background with the narrow depth of field. In a lot of these photos, I was trying to play with the lines - the lines of the stairs, the railings, the chain, the cracks in the pavement, the lamppost. I'm not sure what my objective was with that - perhaps it was to create a feeling of movement and depth. Some I think worked ok, otherwise less so. But in any case, a fun exercise to make me look at ugly grey concrete in a different way!
